I think this is the first year ever that we have been at our home on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. Usually we're with one side of the family or the other or traveling, so we weren't quite sure what to do!
Early on in the week Keri told me that since he was off work he wanted to cook dinner for us-something he did lots when we were dating and he rarely does anymore due to that whole JOB thing! ; ) On Christmas Eve he made a fabulous lasagna, from scratch of course. Loaded with cheese and not so healthy but it was SO good! We all ate our fill that evening and the then kids took an early bath, we put their pj's on and loaded up the car to go and look at Christmas lights. Addie and Doak both really enjoyed looking at lights and we saw some amazing light displays as well as some beautiful nativity scenes. All the while we listening to my personal favorite Christmas music by John Denver and the Muppets.

When we arrived back at home we all sat by the tree and Keri read the Christmas story from the Bible and talked again about Christmas being the birth of Jesus and what an amazing gift He is! We finally finished our Advent nativity book and set up the baby Jesus with the rest of the scene. Then we let Addie pick one last Christmas book to read before we tucked the kids in bed.

After the kids were in bed Keri and I watched White Christmas (my favorite Christmas movie) and sat by the fire. Then we scurried around to fill the stockings and get the presents under the tree. I just knew Doak would wake up Christmas morning before Addie and so we'd be up to do any last minute things before the princess woke up. But she woke up first and I guess she went straight to the tree because she ran into our room pushing her new doll stroller! By the time Keri and I rolled out of bed Addie had already started going through her stocking! We stopped her long enough to wake up Doak and bring him in by the tree. We don't do a whole lot of presents for Christmas- 3 gifts for each child. And this year we decided to do one toy, one clothing item, and a book. It's really fun for Keri and me to gather ideas and then pick the final three gifts for the kids! We finished opening presents and then made a big breakfast of bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Yum!

I love the 3 presents idea! We're definitely gonna have to pick some number, it's too easy to go crazy!
