Houston Astros game

IMG_2879

Our friends (and pastor from our small town church) have a relative that works for the Astros.  He was able to get Keri some free tickets so Keri took the big kids to a game one evening.  I'm not sure what the kids thought of the game, but I know they loved the food!  They each got a hot dog, a sprite (big treat!), cotton candy, and ice cream.  Daddy is so much more fun than me!  I know it was a fun night that they will remember and I'm so thankful that my kids have a Daddy that loves to spend time with them!

Daddy / Daughter Donut Day

IMG_6839

On Fridays during football season, Keri takes Addie to school and they stop by the donut shop for a special breakfast. Friday is Keri's only day to see the kids before school in the morning and I love that he takes advantage of this time by making it into a special date with his girl!

It's the perfect start to Fridays around our house!

pinkalicious

IMG_5946

I hope this little girl knows how greatly she is blessed. She has a Daddy who wants to spend as much time with her as he can. Her Daddy loves her, helps her grow, challenges her, and helps her up if she falls. He loves to take her out on dates. Sometimes they go to the movies, sometimes they go out to lunch, sometimes they just hang out.

Last summer we read the book Pink Me Up and Addie loved it! It's all about a Daddy who goes to a pink party with his daughter. The little girl dresses her Daddy up in pink clothes and he is a good sport about it, even though he's the only Daddy at the pink party. Since reading that book Keri has wanted to take Addie out on a pink date. He bought himself a pink shirt for the occasion-this is huge, the boy has NEVER worn pink! He took her to Charming Charlie and let her pick out two big, girly necklaces. Then they went out to breakfast, just the two of them. I'd say she's one lucky girl!

Week One Wrap Up

IMG_1014
The first week of school went really well for these two sweeties.

Addie
happily woke up every day this week and never shed a tear or expressed any anxiety about going to school. What an answered prayer! After school each day she gave lots of information about who she played with, what books she read, what 'special' she went to (pe, art, music). When we picked her up each afternoon she greeted Doak and me with a hug and smile and was ready to get home and play! She has been very tired in the evenings so we've moved bedtime up and have declared Saturday sleep in day/movie morning to give her some extra rest.

Keri had a busy week! He's teaching government and geography and is the offensive coordinator for the football team. So he's always working on something from sun up to way past sundown. He's enjoying his classes and football practice. Doak and I took Keri lunch on Thursday and got to peek in one of his classes-he's a great teacher and it's so fun to watch him teach.

On Fridays Keri goes into work a little bit later than the rest of the week. So he's decided that will be his special morning with Addie! They stopped by the donut shop for breakfast and he took her to class. It was the perfect end to a great first week!

Handy Men

IMG_0551
Keri replaced a warped board on the play set last week and Doak jumped at the chance to work alongside Daddy on a project.

He diligently held the screwdriver and made sure Daddy screwed them in tight!

Daddy made sure the play set was safe for the kiddos.

And Doak got a chance to be a "very good helper"!

a little Daddy time

Now that Keri's commute is only 5 minutes, Addie is enjoying much more time with Daddy. Keri got home at 5:00 tonight, which is totally unheard of. We played, danced, watched Boz, ate dinner, and then Keri took us out for Cold Stone ice cream. Yum.

And two more of Addie helping me make bows tonight.
