39 Weeks

39 weeks

Almost there! I had my appointment today and Brock is doing great! I only measured 35 weeks so the doctor asked for me to get another sono to make sure Brock is still growing. He's doing just fine, his growth is well within the normal range, my fluid levels are fine, etc. He's just not going to be a huge boy. He is estimated to weigh 6 lbs. 12 oz. right now. Although I'm getting uncomfortable, we think it's best to let him come whenever he's ready. So for the next few days or weeks I'll just be enjoying pregnancy, enjoying Addie, Doak, and Keri, and enjoying a restful week next week with Keri and Addie off of school.

38 weeks!

2-3 weeks left until baby Brock arrives. We are so excited and I'm getting to the point physically of being ready to deliver this little boy! In the past few days sleep has been hard to come by and sitting still for more than a few minutes is not too fun. I'm definitely feeling more uncomfortable, but he's worth it all of course!

One sort of funny pregnancy symptom as of late is my lack of brains. I just read in my pregnancy update that research shows that brain cell volume does actually decrease in the third trimester, so at least I have a documented reason for my forgetfulness! In the past month I have been pulled over by the police 3 times (more times than in the past 10 years of driving), been called by Addie's school to let me know that they found my driver's license in the parking lot (didn't even notice it was missing!), and I spent 10 minutes yesterday morning trying to remember if I actually packed Doak's lunch or if I sent an empty lunch box with him to preschool. Ahh, the joys of pregnancy!

Well, the car seat is installed, the bag is packed and in the car, now we're just waiting on our baby boy!

37 weeks

It's hard to believe that I'm 9 months pregnant. Wow, this little guy could be here any day now! Of course I most likely have 3 or 4 weeks left, but that's not long! I'm feeling good, although in the past week I've had a few days of morning sickness. Oh well, it was nice to have a little break from getting sick for a few weeks anyways! I'm not sleeping much at night so I guess God is preparing me for middle of the night feedings!

I'm going to the OB once a week and last week they did my first internal exam. Nothing to report yet. . .I go again this Thursday. I am making the rounds meeting all the doctors in the practice since my OB will be out of town the whole week of Thanksgiving-right when I'm due. I have liked all the doctors so far and I know that no matter when Brock decides to make an appearance I will be well cared for.

I started packing my bag last week and hope to finish it in the next few days. I'm also planning to install Brock's car seat this week-can't believe we'll have 3 car seats in our car from now on!

Addie and Doak are getting really excited about Brock now. This morning Addie told me that it was the first day of November and that Brock will be born this month. She's going to be such a great big sister (again).

Keri took me out on Saturday night and Dianna kept the kiddos. We had a great time at dinner and a movie and enjoyed what may be our last night out together for a while!

(yes, my hair is really dark-there's another post about that coming soon!)

34 weeks

34 weeks

This week I am finally feeling better after an upper respiratory infection and a horrible sinus infection. It's so nice to be able to breathe and not be coughing all day long! As far as pregnancy related symptoms I'm feeling great! I've been blessed with 3 healthy pregnancies and that's something I try not to take for granted! I am feeling big of course and can't believe I still have 6ish weeks to grow.

Nesting is in full effect around here. Baby clothes are washed and folded, the crib is put together (thanks Dad!), and the car seat is here and ready for Brock! We also got baby toys, playmat, swing, etc out of the attic and are prepping the house for baby.

I went to the OB this week and was proud to tell my doctor that I finally picked out a hospital! We are pleased with the choice and think it's going to be a great place to bring Brock into the world. My OB wanted to check Brock's growth this week and I was surprised to get an ultrasound at my appointment. I've never had one so late into a pregnancy and I loved getting to see chubby baby cheeks, and since it was 4D I could see him sticking out his tongue, swallowing, and moving all in 3D action. So cool! Here are a few of the images we got-we think he looks like Doak! Brock's growth is fine and he is estimated to currently weigh 4lbs 8oz. They don't expect him to be a huge baby so I'm interested to see how big he will be! The ultrasound showed everything to be great. I'm so glad I got to peek and see that sweet boy this week!

31 weeks

IMG_1186

Here I am at (almost) 31 weeks. Wow, this little boy will be here in no time at all! At my last OB visit my doctor asked me which hospital I'm going to deliver at. . .I have a choice of two that are close by. I have meant to go and tour both and make a decision but it just hasn't happened yet. My OB told me that it was time to get on the ball-this baby will be here soon! That's when it finally clicked that baby Brock will be here in around 10 weeks! So I have strict orders to tour both hospitals and come to my next appointment with a decision.

I'm feeling good and even sleeping well lately. The past week or so I've had a terrible, deep chest cough. I rarely take medicine and almost never go to the doctor, but after a week of this I finally gave in and went to the doctor today. I am now on antibiotics and hope to be cough-free soon!

My only pregnancy related problem these days is that I now have varicose veins and I am wearing biker shorts (instead of support hose) to help with that. It's not a huge deal, but I sure will appreciate some cooler weather now that I've had to add another layer of clothing to my wardrobe!

My nesting is in full effect now. I recently painted the kids bathroom and did some other projects there, as well as getting our bedroom put together. The mini crib will be ordered soon and I hope to start sorting through baby clothes in the next week or two!

Addie has been asking to use my camera quite a bit lately. Here are some pictures she took "of Brock" this weekend!

nesting part one

IMG_1136

I've had a major urge to nest lately! Since our sweet little Brock will be sharing a room with us for quite a while, I thought it was only appropriate to spruce up the master bedroom before he arrived. Keri started off the process by buying us new bedding for our anniversary. I found curtains and bought some slate blue paint and my AMAZING DAD did the rest! Mom and Dad came in town for the weekend and Dad worked so hard to get our room looking perfect. Mom kept the kids occupied and ironed lots of curtain panels! Our room is now a perfect, calm retreat for me and Keri! Complete with a comfy chair for reading/studying/quiet times which will soon turn into the nursing/rocking/baby calming chair. : )

Stay tuned for nesting part two: guest/kids' bathroom

27 weeks

IMG_0961

Here I am at 27 weeks. Can't believe I'm that far along already!

I'm feeling great these days! I still have one or two days a week that I get sick, but it's definitely better than it was a month or two ago! I'm starting to feel really big and along with that comes grunting and straining to get off the couch or turn over in bed. It's really hilarious!

I passed my glucose tolerance test a few weeks ago and will return to the OB next week (without kids in tow-they'll both be in school : ) I had gained a few pounds at my last appointment so that's good news. I think my OB was beginning to worry about me. Little does she know that I'm the girl that has never done a diet for more than an hour or two before quitting!

Addie and Doak have been talking to baby Brock a lot lately. And Doak thinks it's so funny if I speak as baby Brock while I'm holding him and say, "hey big brother you're squishing me!".

I'm starting to think about nesting. I have all of Doak's baby clothes down so someday soon I'll start washing and putting them away for Brock. Brock will be in a bassinet or mini crib in our room for a while (since our house is 3 bedroom and I'm not willing to risk waking Addie or Doak in the middle of the night!). Eventually he'll room with Doak but for now we're happy to share our room with him!

As I say with every pregnancy update, the time is flying by!

22 weeks and baby's name

IMG_0837

I can't believe I'm already 22 weeks along! This pregnancy has flown by and I'm enjoying every minute of it!

I haven't been sick in about a week and I'm thrilled not to be throwing up anymore! I've finally started being more prepared and making myself eat more often, which has helped a lot. I'm also eating lots of bland foods-chicken noodle soup, baked potatoes, pasta, etc.

I'm still craving fruit-especially pineapple, peaches, and nectarines. I crave ice and snow cones. The kids and I found a snow cone stand nearby that sells $1 snow cones. They're no cajun cones, but they'll do! I also had a serious craving this week for steak, which never happens for me. Keri was happy to go eat a steak with me!

My aversions are slowly going away too-I made myself cook all last week and never got sick-even while cutting up raw chicken. I'm so glad I can cook now and take care of the family on my own, especially since football starts next week!

The biggest development of the last few weeks is that we have chosen a name for our son. He will be called Brock. We love it and think it goes well with Addie & Doak's name, as well as our last name. No middle name yet...feel free to leave suggestions!

14 weeks

I'm a little over 14 weeks pregnant. Today I went to the OB and measured 16 weeks. That's no surprise to anyone who has seen me lately-I'm definitely showing! The baby's heartbeat was strong and everything looks great. We have an appointment July 11th for the big ultrasound! We are so excited to see this baby and find out the sex! Addie pats my stomach and says, "baby sister". She also pats her stomach and says the same thing. It's too cute!

I'm feeling much better the past few weeks, thanks for all your prayers and emails.

a late update

It's been a while since I blogged! I have felt better this past week-almost normal! Praise God. I spent a great week in Abilene resting and getting lots of help caring for Addie. Keri joined us Friday in Abilene for a friend's wedding and then Addie and I came back to Carrollton with him. This week we've been packing-we're moving to Garland tomorrow! We'll be offline for a few days, but we will post as soon as we can with pictures of our new place!

Happy Hyperemesis Day!

Instead of celebrating Mother's Day this year I celebrated Happy Hyperemesis Day. This pregnancy has been a lot more difficult than my pregnancy with Addie and I've felt pretty sick since I found out I was pregnant. Last week it got worse and worse and Sunday I spent the day in the ER getting IV liquids for dehydration and some anti-nausea meds. I realized how much help I need and called for reinforcements. Mom came over Sunday night and drove me to my OB appointment Monday. After that Addie and I packed up a week's worth of clothes and headed back home with Mom. Keri has been so helpful when I'm sick, but he just can't take off anymore days and I'm having a hard time taking care of Addie alone on my really, really sick days. So Mom and Dad have stepped up and already life is much easier with their help. I'm on some meds and have a bland diet that should help a little, but hyperemesis can last a lot longer than regular morning sickness, so I'm in this for the long haul.

I'd love your prayers during this time!

just what the doctor ordered

Mom came to visit this weekend-she actually took Friday off and stayed until Sunday afternoon. What a blessing it was to have her here! Since I started feeling bad a few weeks ago I have really fallen behind on laundry, cleaning, cooking, etc. Mom came ready to work (and play with Addie of course!). She caught us up on laundry, let us sleep in, and filled our freezer with 5 homemade meals that I can take from the freezer to the oven. Yippee, no more eating out! She also gave us all some extra TLC and loved on Addie so much. Addie is really blessed to have all her grandparents around and they are all madly in love with her. . .who could blame them? Addie loved spending time with Cookie and misses her already!

Thank you Mom so much for coming down this weekend and for serving us in so many ways-we love you!

survival mode

Here is the explanation for my lack of blogging lately . . . I'm in survival mode! Who knew being pregnant could be so different the second time around? I haven't cooked dinner in almost 2 weeks, haven't eaten more than 2 bites of a vegetable in a week, and let's not mention what the apartment looks like!

Things I've learned in the past few weeks:
1. I still have to take care of Addie even when I feel horrible-no calling in sick!
2. My views on Addie watching videos have changed-when I feel sick I turn on a video, lay on the couch and let Boz entertain her for while.
3. Sometimes Addie needs to eat even though the thought of food in general makes me want to gag!
4. Who knows what I used to do during Addie's nap . . . now I sleep!
5. My husband is even greater than I thought-he is great at taking care of me when I feel bad and he doesn't even mind that we've eaten out for 2 weeks straight!

We are beyond blessed to be pregnant again and I'd be sick for the next 9 years to have another baby. And it will all be worth it come December!

Addie's news

Addie will be taking on a new role before this year ends . . .

she's going to be a big sister!

Her new brother or sister is due to arrive December 7th!
