Nutcracker girls night

IMG_8609

This November while sitting in the doctor's office waiting room Addie saw a poster advertising a local performance of The Nutcracker Ballet. We decided to make a girls night of it! Addie has read the story of the Nutcracker and has seen a movie about it, but this was her first time to see a live performance. We both enjoyed it so much! We're hoping to make it a new tradition.

Christmas fun

This past week we had lots of fun Christmas activities to participate in!

First up was a program at Doak's preschool. He sang "Mary and Joseph Had a Baby Boy" and they had little shakers they used during the song. On the way to school the day of performance I asked Doak to show me his smile that he would have during his song. He showed me his signature cheesy smile complete with squinty eyes. And during his time on stage that's exactly what he did-he was all smiles. I'm so proud that he sang the song and used his shaker just like he was supposed to!

This day was admittedly an emotional day for me with lots of stress going on which probably added to things, but for whatever reason I got really choked up seeing Doak up there on stage. I can't believe he's big enough to be on stage and following directions like a big boy! He seems to have grown so much since Brock arrived.

Then this Sunday Addie and all the kids at church age 3-5th grade sang Away in a Manger and Happy Birthday Jesus in the worship service. Addie did a great job-I love watching her sing and worship!

I love this picture that I got of Addie and her sweet friend Haley-they are looking at each other so sweetly!

Last night we had our annual night to look at Christmas lights. We drove to "town" , got some hot chocolate at Starbucks and listened to John Denver and the Muppets Christmas Together album while admiring the beautiful lights!
