Addie at 3 & 1/2

I really want to remember Addie at this age. This post serves as a scrapbook entry for this scrapbook-less family!

Addie still loves to read, loves the library, and always asks for "just one more story" at bedtime! Her love for books has gotten her into a little trouble lately. A few nights this week after we put her to bed and go about our evening tasks we'll look to her bedroom door and see a light on. She's always in bed reading a book. Little stinker!

She knows all her letters-capital and lowercase and knows the sound(s) that each letter makes. She is beginning to try to read words and if I sound out a word slowly she helps me spell it. I'm not sure how high she can count-20 probably and she recognizes numbers up to 12 or so.

Addie has become aware that others may have an opinion of her. If I dress her in pants she almost always says (in a dramatic voice), "but everyone will think I'm a boy!". Then last night we were talking about our new President and how he is "the boss" of the country and what a big job that is, how we should pray for him, etc. We said something about her being president when she grows up. She said she'd rather be a princess. : ) 10 minutes later she randomly whined, "but everyone will think I'm a real President!"

Miss Addie definitely has her own style. She still wants to wear a dress every day, but she especially loves fancy dresses. She also wants to wear her pink sparkly shoes with every outfit and she likes her pink tights and the ones with a bow on them best of all. I'm trying to let go and let her have her style. Sometimes she is quite a sight to see!

She is really into pretending. She is constantly coming up to me saying, "You're the mama lion, I'm the baby girl lion." Or "Mommy-you're the witch!" Or my personal favorite: she'll scream "Watch out the mice are coming!!!" and run like crazy to jump on a bed or into your arms! What a great imagination.

Addie is a great big sister to Doak. At almost every meal she will tear off a piece of what she is eating and hand it to me and say, "Here Mom, this is for Doak." Yesterday we ran to CVS. I told her that we were just running in for a second to buy Mommy some cereal. She told me that she would stay in the car and watch Doak for me. Ha!

She still loves dance and loves to spin and show off her moves when we have music playing at home. She also loves to sing and make up songs-especially when the video camera is on!

Addie's sense of humor is starting to develop more every day. She'll tell a joke and then say, "I'm just kidding" or "I'm just joking you!". Sometimes she'll crack me up and have me laughing out loud. Then she says, "Did I say a funny word Mommy?".

It's obvious that this little girl loved having her Daddy at home for two weeks over Christmas break. Every morning the first words out of her mouth are "Where is Daddy?". She always seems surprised that he has to work! Every night when he comes home she runs up to him as fast as she can and yells "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" until Keri picks her up. She then starts to spout off what she did all day and even considerately asks, "How was your day Daddy?". Last night when Keri got home she was so sugary sweet to him: snuggling with him at dinner, hugging him randomly, telling him she loved him over and over. Keri even looked at me and said, "Does she want something?". He is eating it up and loves having his little girl love on him.

Addie, we can't believe how big you are! You make every day fun filled and we are so thrilled that God picked us to be your parents! We love you Munchkin!

This was great - it was like reading everything Maelynn is doing too - it must be a girl thing!! The dancing and making up songs and the imagination is great! Maelynn's big thing is to tell "just pretend Momma".
