Doak is 5!

IMG_8642

Our sweet Doak is 5!

IMG_8643

Our celebration spanned over a few days due to football season.  Keri and I gave him his gift on Friday Nov. 30th.

IMG_8645

We got him old school wooden blocks and have had so much fun building (and knocking down) castles, towers, and walls.

Love these boys!

Saturday 12/1 we drove to Georgetown for playoff game #3.  We met Nanna there and after the game we spent the night in a hotel.  I brought balloons and a birthday banner and Dianna and I decorated after the kids fell asleep.  Since Doak loves Ninjago, I copied some ideas found on etsy and made Ninjago balloons.

Doak loved the decorations and was happy to open a present from Nanna and Pop Pop- the Ninjago Tread Assult- just what he had been wanting!

We sang happy birthday to Doak and he blew out candles on his waffle.

We loved seeing Uncle Mike, who drove up from Austin to see us.

After spending some time with Nanna and Mike we quickly got on the road and drove home to finish celebrating.

Cookie and Papa sent these cool magnetic building blocks called Smart Max.  All the kids love them!

He got more Legos and so many sweet gifts from family and friends.

We ended the evening with an ice cream cake that Daddy picked out.

We wrapped up the celebrating with more Ninjago balloons and chocolate chip cookies to share with Doak's classmates.

Halloween 2012

IMG_8492

This year for Halloween we had a football player (again!), a Ninja from Ninjago, and Domino the cat.

 IMG_8498

Addie chose to be a cat at her Storybook Parade and she also wanted to wear the same thing for Halloween.  For our night of trick or treating she added a black cat mask.

Doak is obsessed with Ninjago!  Luckily we had a dress up that would pass as a ninja, and we ordered some foam nunchucks online to complete the look.  Can you tell he likes it?

Since sweet Brock isn't quite old enough the voice his opinion about costumes yet, and since he LOVES all things football we decided to go with that for his costume again this year.  The vintage helmet and pads are decor from the boys' room and the pants and shirt are what he wears to the Mustang games.  No cost costume=score one for mommy!

A local shopping center held trick or treating starting at 5pm so I took the kids there before Keri got home from work.  It was much less intimidating to have all 3 kids on a sidewalk than going through a neighborhood.

After a quick Sonic car picnic we met Keri at our friends Lorissa and Mark's house.  The daddies took the kids around the neighborhood while Lorissa and I stayed at the house to pass out candy and visit.  Halloween will never be my favorite holiday, but I do love seeing the kids get so excited, dressing them up, and spending time with our family and friends!

fall photo shoot

I rarely get out my real camera these days. But when I pulled it out on Halloween afternoon there seemed to be perfect lighting and cooperative, cute, happy kids. IMG_8464 IMG_8466 IMG_8469 IMG_8482 IMG_8484 IMG_8476 Remind me to get my camera out more often!

carving pumpkins with Nanna and Pop Pop

IMG_8454

Nanna and Pop Pop brought pumpkins and carving supplies to do with the kids.

IMG_8455

All 3 kids got their own pumpkin and got to choose a design. Brock was a little too sleepy for the pumpkin carving party, so Pop Pop designed and executed his for him.

IMG_8456

Pop Pop and Addie worked on a kitty for her pumpkin.

Nanna and Doak picked a picture out of a book called 'grave escape'.

Doak's first day of pre-K

IMG_8360

Doak started pre-k on September 6th. He is attending the same school that he went to last May. After a home visit from his teachers plus a time to play in his classroom with mommy around he was so excited! Doak has always liked school but I've never seen him this eager to go. He had a great first day and can't wait to go back again!

Doak's last day of school

donuts with Doak

IMG_8000

I checked out a Paula Dean Kid's Cookbook from the library at the end of May.   Doak loves to help me in the kitchen so we flipped through the book and he chose to make donuts.  To be honest, I tried more than once to talk him into any other item in the cookbook.  Frying makes me nervous, in fact this was probably the second time I've ever fried anything!

IMG_8002

But Doak was persistent so I put my fear of hot oil aside and we made donuts.  Doak loved them and we had a great time cooking together!

Yum yum!

Fundraiser fun Friday

A few weeks ago Doak's new preschool held their annual fundraiser- a carnival! The kids were so excited to play all the games and bounce in the bouncy house.

Doak is sometimes a little shy and he wanted me to go to each booth with him. He tested his throwing skills at this booth and had 100% accuracy.

Daddy was so proud!

Addie spun the wheel and came out with lots of candy!

Addie chose a rainbow at the face painting booth.

Doak opted for a snake

Brockstar was along for the ride, taking in all the action from the comfort of his stroller!

After the carnival we drove over to Culvers for some burgers and frozen custard.

I warned Keri that this picture would be on the blog! We will see if he makes me take it down!

What a fun night to spend some relaxing, quality time with the ones I love most!
