where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain

Last week Keri had to work a camp so Mom and I took the kids to Oklahoma to visit our extended family. Both sets of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all live there and we got to see so many people we love! I just can't help but feel blessed to have family around me that loves me and my kids enough to drop what they are doing and come see us!

We stayed with Ma and Pa (my Mom's parents) and they sure know how to pamper their guests! Wonderful food, entertainment, conversation, books, toys, and the best backyard in Oklahoma for Addie to play in!

We went out to the lake and fed the ducks and geese. Side note-I am pretty scared of ducks and geese because I was bit (pecked?) by a goose as a child. I'm fine until they start crowding around me and then I'm ready to run!

Ma had some great books out that Addie loved reading. Her favorites were the Madeline books.

Cookie being attacked-I mean hugged by Addie and playing with Mr. Doak.

Addie got to help make bread and cinnamon rolls-yum!

Pa has a way with kids. He's a former teacher, coach, principal, and administrator and loves football and basketball. He and Doak bonded over the football quilt that Ma made.

Mom made the trip so fun. She is always ready and willing to help and
even encourages me to take a nap while she takes care of the kids! Woohoo!

Ma showed Addie how to sew. She made me a wonderful nursing cover.
Ma, I've used it already and it is perfect-thanks so much!

My cousin Ashley drove in from Tulsa. She had just taken her Med school
boards and we're so glad that it worked out for her to drive in and see us!

Aunt Sheila admiring the zucchini that Addie and Pa picked from the garden.

Uncle Bill played with Addie and Doak and let us
come over and swim in his pool. Addie was thrilled!

Aunt Mardi and my cousin Gene drove in from Tulsa. They brought some cute, cute
clothes for the kids and bday presents for Miss Addie. We love seeing you Mardi and Gene!

My parents met in high school and all my grandparents live
in the same town. So we got to see Dad's parents too! Grandma and
Addie bonded over book, crayons, and a delicious dinner.

Gramps and Doak taking in the beautiful afternoon on the back porch. Gramps was
on the floor playing with the kids and helped Addie color in her new coloring book.

What a great week! Thanks Oklahoma family for letting us come for a visit.
I'm hoping to make it a summer tradition!
