Keri came home from work and sat down on the side the chair when someone called him. Addie crawled up beside him and they looked so cute I had to take a picture!
Addie and Doak playing in Doak's cribAnd since this is a random post I have to brag on Addie for a second. She's always been a strong willed little girl. We're visiting churches and one Sunday School we visited was doing a series on parenting. I felt really convicted that I wasn't giving Addie enough responsibility. So many times it is easier on me to do things for her instead of teaching her how to do things. Also I've always been slow to discipline her-not wanting to upset her or "rock the boat". Over the past few weeks things have really changed for the better. I've become stricter and I see now that Addie craved boundaries and she is so much happier now that boundaries are set and enforced. She's also loving her new responsibilities. She goes to the potty all by herself and washes her hands by herself. She's learning to wash her body and hair at bath time. She's helping clear the table and do dishes. She is so quick to pick up toys now and knows that we have to take good care of the things we have and keep our house clean. She has been having a rest time everyday for 45 minutes of reading books in her room by herself. I've wished for that for so long, but never wanted to fight that battle! The biggest blessing of course is that she is so much more obedient now-and she is willingly obedient. We're so proud of her and I have to say I'm proud of myself for realizing my weaknesses and asking God to guide me in training Addie.

wow, you are doing a great job with Addie! That is awesome that you are finding out boundaries to give her. i have had several moments like that over the last 4 years where I learned again, "Oh, yeah, I'm the mom, and I can be in control." It's hard at first, but you're right, they are much happier! You are a wonderful mom, Natalie. I hope Doak gets well soon!
I love those mom moments when things just seem to click. Good for you, Natalie, for being attune to God's voice. You, too, are practicing willing obedience, and what a great example for your children! We have to obey God, and they have to obey us which teaches them about obeying God.
what a great accomplishment for you and addie. thanks for sharing.
praying for a quick recovery for doak!
You are such a wonderful mommy! Poor Doak, I'm glad he's on antibiotics! (BTW - you make having 2 kids look so easy!!)
A sick baby is no fun; I hope Doak's on the mend. Thanks a ton for the bluebonnet suggestion, it was perfect and so close! :)
I am definitely taking notes! You ARE doing a great job with your kiddos! You make it look easy!
btw- my folks moved to Denver about a year and a half ago :( I think that the couple that bought their home in Abilene is moving. We miss them terribly, but moving to Colorado has always been a dream for them. So we are happy for them.
