the real McQueen!

Last week I read on a friend's facebook page about a Cars 2 Tour coming to Dallas. I did a little research and decided that it was the perfect event for our Cars obsessed boy! When I first told Doak that he would get to see the real Lightning McQueen and Mater he said, "Are you for real?". He was so excited! After we picked Addie up from school we made the drive to Dallas. Let me stop and say that this particular afternoon reminded me how far out in the burbs we live! It was a long haul to get to the event, especially since I thought it was being held at a mall on the Tollway, when it was actually right off 75! Duh! It was a great day though and I didn't let my flighty mistake dampen my mood.



After we parked and walked over to the area of the parking lot where the event was taking place, I saw a huge line of people. I quickly realized that waiting 2 hours in 100 degree heat just to take a picture up close with the cars was not going to be worth the pain! We saw many hot, tired, sweaty, crying kids and I pointed them out discreetly to Addie and Doak and told them that was how we would feel if we waited in that long line! So we settled for some pictures with the Tour truck and with Mater and Lightning from far away.

Doak was in heaven seeing these cars! Before we drove home I took the kids into the Disney store and let them both pick a small toy. That brought our wonderful adventure to the perfect ending. We are now counting down the days until June 24th when we can take a family trip to the movies to see Cars 2!
