field trip

At the end of April, all of the kindergarten classes from Addie's school took a field trip to the Dallas Zoo. Parents were asked to volunteer, and after Addie's teacher said I could bring the boys, I signed up to help. About a week before the field trip date Addie told me that she wished Daddy could come too. So he asked his principal if he could miss TAKS testing and he got the day off! (his assigned duty had been to supervise kids in the gym, not give the test) On the big day we all got dressed and ready and went to school with Addie. Addie rode the bus, while the rest of us took off a little early and made stops at Starbucks for caffeine and Taco Cabana for breakfast burritos....yum!

So many volunteers signed up to help that our assigned group of students was just Addie and her sweet friend Grace. Here they are in their class shirts....super cheesy but it did make them easy to spot amongst the millions of other kids at the zoo!

Little Brock enjoyed his second zoo trip and even wore his lion overalls to get in the spirit!

The girls loved seeing all the animals and were so sweet to include Doak. My favorite part of taking kids to the zoo is that they are just as excited about a squirrel running across the sidewalk as they are about the huge zoo animals!

We only had 3 hours to spend, including lunch time, so we didn't cover the whole zoo. But we made sure to hit all the "big animals". I think my favorite part of the zoo is the new Savannah exhibit where elephants, zebras, giraffes, and wild cats all roam in huge habitats.

The girls loved running into their classmates throughout the zoo.

Our last stop was to see all the monkeys and watch them swing and do tricks! After we hugged sweet Grace goodbye we took our whole family back home in our van. Doak, of course, fell asleep on the long ride home. Addie, Keri, and I stopped by Sonic for happy hour and chatted about our favorite animals on the drive. What a fun day at the zoo!

That's so great that you both got to go with them. I don't think my dad ever went on a field trip with me. Your kiddos are so, so, so blessed!
