The morning started off like any other Sunday with breakfast, playtime, and getting ready for church. After I was dressed and ready I had about an hour to spare and a major urge to do some cleaning. So I cleaned the bathrooms, kitchen, and vacuumed all the floors. We were a few minutes late to church, but I felt better after doing some cleaning! I was definitely nesting! Also Sunday morning I had a few signs that labor was starting, the exact same signs that I had the day before Doak was born. So I told Keri what had happened and we cautiously started getting excited. After church we had some friends over for a quick lunch and then I went on a little shopping spree with my friend Jennifer while Keri and Jen's husband Matt hung out at our house with the kids. We did some serious discount shopping and I was so thrilled to get quite a few Christmas gifts crossed off my list!
By Sunday evening I was really convinced that I was in early labor. Once Keri and I finally got the kids down for bed I sat down and started timing contractions. They were coming every 20 minutes or so, but weren't very consistent. When I went to bed around midnight I had my iphone with me and at the start of each contraction I hit the lap button on the stopwatch app so I had all the contractions timed. I never went to sleep Sunday night, and after laying down for an hour or so I decided to get up and do some more cleaning, make some lists, and prepare for Monday. Around 3 or 4 I took another bath and started getting dressed and ready to leave for the hospital. About that time I woke Keri up and told him that the contractions were 7-8 minutes apart and this was really it! We called Dianna and told her to start heading our way so we could go to the hospital. My original plan was to call my friend Jennifer and have her wait at our house until Dianna got there, but I couldn't decide if I should call Jennifer or not. The contractions were definitely coming, but they were varied on time in between anywhere from 5-12 minutes. I didn't want to leave too early and in the end we waited until Dianna got here. By that time I was READY to get to the hospital.

We arrived at the hospital around 7:45am. We got checked in and I was hooked up to monitors to observe my contractions. The nurse checked me and I was 4 cm and but my contractions were not very consistent. My OB was out of town, so the nurse called the on call doctor. The doctor told the nurse that I either needed to be started on pitocin or I could walk the hospital halls for an hour or two to try to get things moving. I knew I didn't want to be on pitocin unless it was absolutely necessary, so Keri and I got up and made the rounds of the second floor for about an hour. The next time the nurse checked me I was 6 cm-things were moving right along! We decided to stay put in our room and we also called for the anesthesiologist to get my epidural started. The contractions were still totally bearable, but after my (almost) drug free birth with Doak I decided I'd like to have an easier delivery this time! The rest of my labor consisted of hanging out in my room, visiting with family and friends. By the time I was ready to push I still hadn't been seen by a doctor. Apparently the on call OB couldn't get to the hospital so another OB finally made it to deliver me around 1:15.

The nurses got the room prepped and after the OB got there we started pushing. I only pushed 3 or 4 times before sweet Brock was born!

finally getting to hold my sweet baby boy!

After I nursed Brock, Keri went out to the family waiting area to share our joyous news with our family!

Then it was time for Addie and Doak to meet their new baby brother. I love this precious picture that Dianna took of Addie and Doak holding hands as they walked down the hall to my room.

Addie and Doak were so excited and couldn't believe that Brock was finally here! They were in awe of him and talked to him so sweetly and touched him so gently.
