on my heart

My heart has been heavy with lots of serious prayer requests in the past few weeks. I'm going to share some of them and ask for you to join me in praying for these friends.

Sarah Grace Clark is the daughter of my friend Anne. She was diagnosed Friday with leukemia and started intensive chemotherapy Monday (1/18). Please pray for her parents Anne and Jay, for Sarah Grace who is 7, for her sisters Hannah (5) and Rebekah (1). The Clarks are missionaries in China and Sarah Grace's first 5 weeks of chemo will be in Hong Kong, as she is too sick to travel back to the US. Sarah Grace will be receiving treatment in a hospital a few islands away from the family's apartment. So I'm praying for the logistics of how Jay and Anne can be there to care for Sarah Grace while also caring for their other two girls. I pray for them as they deal with the language and cultural barriers of being in a foreign country. Their faith is strong and Sarah Grace has so much faith. Take a look at her blog-this little girl will inspire you!

Luke Longacre is one of my oldest friends. We were in the church nursery together as babies and continue to stay in touch, and our parents are very close. Luke was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia called myloproliferative disorder. Luke started chemotherapy Tuesday (1/19) and will receive a bone marrow transplant on January 27th. I'm praying for Luke's body as he goes through chemo and also for his donor who is going through the same process as Luke. I'm praying for the transplant to work and for Luke in the coming months as he heals.

Pete and Priscilla are some friends of ours from church. They lost their son Max at 26 weeks gestation on January 5th. I'm praying for Pete and Priscilla to feel God walking with them as they face each new day. Their hope and prayer is that someone will be saved through the death of their son, so that is my biggest prayer for them too.

My sweet sister in law Ami is 36 weeks pregnant with their 3rd baby. Ami has some (recently discovered) health complications that cause her babies to go into distress during labor. Kiran and Ellery were both emergency c-sections and Ellery spent 2 weeks in the NICU. Ami will have an amnio in a week or so to make sure baby girl's lungs are developed and ready to breathe in the outside world. Depending on the results, Ami will have a scheduled c-section a few days later. So my main prayers are for Ami not to go into labor and for the health of Ami and my new niece! I'm praying for wisdom for her OB and peace and calm for Jeff, Ami, Kiran, and Ellery during these next few weeks.

Even as I was writing this post my mom called with news that my Grandma (Dad's mom) has colon cancer. She will have part of her colon removed and a colon resection the first part of February. She survived breast cancer 38 years ago, so we're praying for her to beat it again!

I'll be praying for you. You can add Gary to your list. He just had a heart attack tonight. It was a big one but they put 2 stints in the blocked artery and he is stable now in the cardiovascular ICU.

Thanks for your prayers and I'll be lifting yours up as well.
