a few laughs

Have a few laughs courtesy of Addie and Doak!

preface: Addie has been asking us lots of questions about God, Satan, sin, angels, and many other spiritual things lately. We're doing our best to answer her in a way that she can understand. I think it's working!

Addie: Mom, what would happen if I accidentally opened one of my Christmas presents before Christmas?

me: Well, Addie if you opened one of your presents early that wouldn't be an accident. That would be something done on purpose. That wouldn't be a good choice. Actually that would be a sin wouldn't it?

Addie: Don't worry Mom, I won't follow the father of lies.

preface: Doak is seriously obsessed with all things related to the movie Cars.

Doak: I faster than fast and twiter than twit (quicker than quick), I am speed.

Anything and everything relates to Cars in Doak's mind. Lately he has been asking for Mater pizza and Lightning grilled cheese! If he sees something red he says, "that just like Lightning!"

Doak is such a happy boy! To show his excitement about a new car, or a glass of apple juice, or Daddy coming home he says, "YAY HOO!" On his really good days we hear a YAY HOO! a few times an hour!

me: Addie please eat 3 more of your carrots and then you may be excused.

Addie: Mommy, I want to come and give you a hug.

me: Thank you Addie, now go and eat your carrots.

Addie: Mommy I want one more hug.

rinse and repeat about 10 times per meal

Addie is very interested in the age of people around her. She also knows that she is older than Doak. One night over Christmas while we were in Abilene Cookie and Papa put the kids to bed while Keri and I went out on a date. When we got home Cookie and Papa had a great story for us. Addie and Doak were sharing a bed and Papa heard someone crying. Apparently Addie told Doak since Mommy and Daddy were out on a date she was the boss-she is older after all! Doak was not happy about that and kept telling Addie, "I'm the boss!" I think Cookie and Papa had to break the news that they were in fact the boss!

In Oklahoma Addie and Doak shared a pallet and Kylie laid down with them at bedtime. I heard Addie say, "Don't worry Kylie, I know you're the boss because you are 6 1/2"!

We were keeping my friend Sabina's girls this morning. I had Addie sit with baby Sophia while I took Bella to the potty. I heard Doak say something loudly and Addie said, "shh Doak. You are bothering Sophia. She's just a baby and she doesn't know how to protect herself yet!"

And that just about sums up life at our house-----full of laughs!
