FCA camp Texas A&M

Last week we had the privilege of working the FCA Sports Camp. The past two years we've attended the camp at our beloved Baylor but this year due to renovations at BU the camp was held at Texas A&M. It was fun to visit College Station and the camp was just as wonderful as the last 2 years. Last Tuesday we met up with Cody, Ashley, and Rylan and caravanned south.

Our car was PACKED!
the kids were quite cooperative in the car and enjoyed stopping
a few times on the road and seeing their buddy Rylan

We have arrived! The kids found a (dirty) chair with a view
and watched all the busyness of coaches arriving out the window.

Addie and Doak made themselves right at home.

They even found a hiding place to remind them of their favorite kitchen cabinet at home!

All week long Ashley and I played with the kids while Keri and Cody worked-taking them
to parks, the mall playground. My favorite stop was at the Children's museum in Bryan.

Addie painted a masterpiece,

Doak did some recycling,

played with some tractors,

Addie went on a rocket ship to the moon,

and Doak played the role of engineer.

Meanwhile Keri was back in Aggieland coordinating
the football camp with 200+ kids and 20 coaches.

the football coaches and players

Check out Doak just chilling on Kyle Field amongst 200 football players!

We went to visit Keri two days during camp. As usual Addie and
Doak felt right at home on the field or at the indoor facility.
Doak looked hilarious drinking water like the big old boys!

While Doak was running free on 100 yards of indoor turf, Addie found
a great coach who read to her from her Bible for about 15 minutes.

Addie loves the spotlight and had no problem standing up in front of
200 kids while Keri gave them directions for the afternoon.
-------------------------------
We celebrated the Fourth of July with some yummy Mexican food,
swimming, and fireworks on the roof of the parking garage!

The kids were fading fast and weren't in the mood to wait calmly for the fireworks at 9:45.
So we plugged in Nemo and let them watch until the fireworks started.

Sweet Doak was so tired! At the sight of each firework he said, "buum!"

Happy Independence Day!

What fun - I so want to go to FCA camp some year - but it doesn't seem like we can ever fit it in. I think Chris is going to be in charge of FCA here so maybe that will help us get there. We go to Coaches Outreach in Arkansas this weekend.

I love the pictures of Addie and Doak on Kyle Field - they look right at home on a football field! I'm glad your family had such a good time - even if it wasn't at Baylor!

I love all the pics but specially the one of Doak walking across the field while all "the big guys" are sitting and listening. He looks so tiny next to them....

That looks like such a fun trip! I love how comfortable the kids were in front of all the "strangers". Impressive! And the coach reading to Addie - priceless!
