Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving morning Keri got up and went to early morning practice while the kids and I did a few chores and got ready for the day. When Keri got home (and after we finally found the car keys after a 10 minute search!) we drove over to Hurst for family time and Thanksgiving dinner.

It was a gorgeous day and we spent most of it outside!

Pop Pop cut some flowers for Addie and she was beyond thrilled.
She carried the pink ones around for hours!

We went for a family walk and enjoyed every minute of our Daddy time.

Doak and I loved hanging out in the front yard.

Pop Pop has made friends with neighbor's cats and both kids are fascinated by them!

Pop Pop is the best! He walked Doak all over the yard letting him feel
tree bark, branches, shrubs, leaves, grass, etc.

Later that night Amy, Bryan, Camryn, and Makynna arrived and the real partying started!

both of these girls were begging for more flowers!

Every year that we have Thanksgiving at Jack and Dianna's I have memories of my first Thanksgiving there in 2000. Keri and I had just started dating in August 2000 and I believe that this was my first trip to his home and I know it was the first time I met most of his family. I was so nervous, but they welcomed me with open arms and made me feel right at home by teasing me about my fluffy pink house shoes and talking smack during board games after dinner. It's hard to believe that was 8 years ago.

On the drive back to our house last night Keri and I were talking about what a blessing it is to have both sides of our family in our lives. They love us unconditionally, support us by coming to football games, love on our kids, and respect the way we parent. It seems like these days most people dread holidays because of family stress. But we count our blessings and love every minute we get to spend with our wonderful families!

ok, that picture of you and doak? you are GORGEOUS!

you ARE so blessed to enjoy your families. both mine and j's are divorced (both after 25+ years of marriage, so it was well into our adulthood), so the holidays are especially stressful with them. we're so thankful that we're starting our own sweet little family unit--we take refuge in each other and our girls!
