Addie's alarm went off at 6:30 this morning. I heard her turn it off and a few minutes later I went in to check on her. She said, "May I please have 5 more minutes?" I left her room to let her wake up slowly and then Keri walked in. Keri got in bed and snuggled with her for a few minutes! Those two are peas in a pod-they are not morning people!
Once she was out of bed, Addie was happy to be getting ready for school! She had a yummy muffin and milk for breakfast and put on the clothes she had picked out. Then it was time to go!
Doak went to a friend's this morning while we took Addie to school, so he gave her a big goodbye hug. These two really are sweet friends.
We dropped Doak off and then it was time to go to school.
We picked Keri up from the field house so he could come to Addie's school with us. Addie had a big hug for Daddy in the parking lot.
We dropped Addie off to her teacher in the cafeteria. Kindergarten parents were allowed to walk kids to their classroom (no other parents are allowed to) but you had to check in through the office, show ID, and get a sticker with your name and picture on it. There were about 50 people waiting in line at the office so we opted to let Addie go to the cafeteria and be on time instead of waiting in line. (Which would also have made Keri late for his first day of school!) She was happy to see her teacher, classmates, and friends in other classes and happily waved goodbye to us.
I'm so thankful for a happy, calm morning and can't wait to see what Miss Addie has to say about school!

oh my goodness. did you cry? i drove by an elementary school here last week on the first day of school and got teary eyed thinking about leighton starting school. good thing i have 5 years to adjust before the big day. congrats addie!
