Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.
Stand firm. Let nothing move you. Give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,
because you know that your labor in the Lord is never in vain.

*I'm not going to share the school name on the blog since it's public, but-Proverbs 16:3
Every year around January the coaching world starts shaking up. Coaches move up and leave openings behind. People move, quit, and are fired and the whole coaching world is up in the air from about January-April. Keri feels called to be a head football coach and the way to move up in coaching is basically to move or wait for someone on your staff to leave and pray you can fill their position. Every year I have major anxiety from January to April. Moving is hard, trust me we've done plenty of it. But uncertainty is, well, unsettling to say the least.
Every year my faith is challenged and to be honest, for many years I have given up trusting God and have said, "oh let me handle this God". In the past before Keri even told me that he had an interview I was already worried, already planning, already online looking for a place to live. I never rested in the fact that God would provide for us. Thankfully, God is good even when I'm not and every move has brought many blessings to our family, undeserved as they might have been.
But this year has been different.
Keri didn't apply for any jobs, wasn't even looking.
We were at peace.
In late January Keri got a call; a head coach from a 5A school wanted to interview him for the Offensive Coordinator position. And then another coach called, this time from a 4A school, and wanted to interview him for an OC position. Keri met with both coaches and was excited about the possibility of a promotion and a chance to be in charge of the offensive side of the ball. Then another head coach called, this time from a 3A school, again for the OC position.
Over the course of a month he interviewed with these coaches and we waited and prayed. I decided this year I would not take over, I would wait for God and rest in His peace. I didn't look for houses in these towns, didn't worry about where Addie would start kindergarten, didn't try to pursue my plans instead of God's plans. And this year, through God's grace I haven't had near as much anxiety, only one or two small breakdowns, because I'm trusting in Him. I have experienced Christ making His home in me as I trust in Him (Eph. 3:17) And every time fear creeps in, I choose to trust. He blessed me with so many scriptures during this time of waiting. He kept reminding me of His promises and my fears and anxieties went away. It's really been one of the sweetest times with God in my whole life.

(those who fear the Lord) do not fear bad news;
they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.
they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.

As of this week, it's official. We're moving! Keri will be the Offensive Coordinator at a school in the DFW suburbs* and I can't wait to see how God uses him! I feel at peace with the move, and feel certain that this is where we should be next year. We are confidently trusting the Lord to take care of us and we know that whatever the job, wherever it may be, we're working for God not for man. And that's just about all that matters!
Stand firm. Let nothing move you. Give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,
because you know that your labor in the Lord is never in vain.

Congratulations- so excited for you guys. Chris did the same thing this year - and it was really nice. He too got calls from a few schools but decided he liked where he was - it has been nice to be stress free a little! Last year I did the same thing - said I wasn't going to worry - and we have moved to the best place ever - and I'm so happy!! Can't wait to hear what school we will be cheering on for you next year!!

We are going to miss yall so much but I know where it is and it's not too far away. Our 4 year old Sunday school class won't be the same without Addie. We love you all!
We are going to miss y'all but we know that the Lord has you right where you need to be. Lots of love! : )
