Transformation

A few months ago I won a free One Day Room Redesign on a local blog. This Thursday Stephanie came out and worked her magic on our family room. The whole idea is that she takes what we already have and moves things around to totally transform the room without spending much money at all. She came over and worked for about 4 hours while the kids and I went to hang out with Ashley and Rylan. When we came back we were shocked at the changes. See for yourself:
**hopefully you can tell the before from the after even though blogger is messing up my pictures! The smaller ones are the before pics and the after pics are bigger!

No before picture here, but the green bench was here with just the big family picture on the wall above it. This is my favorite area-I love the display of the pictures and this welcome area right by the front door.

So we love the changes, but as they say, change is hard. I had no idea how weird it would be to have things all rearranged. I think Keri and I have always decorated really simply which usually leaves things looking sparse and not too cozy. The new family room is very homey looking which I love! I love all the light and the cozy arrangement. Sometimes I feel like it looks cluttered, but I think it's because I'm so used to the starkness of the old room. I'm trying to keep everything how it is for a few weeks to let myself get used to it. But I moved two things right away. I moved the green bench. It stuck up past the back of the couch and I wasn't sure how I liked that. I also moved the black corner shelf behind the ficus tree. But we love the changes and are so thankful to Stephanie for her services! She is amazing!

I've watched redesign shows before where they take things from other rooms in the house to help decorate the room. I always wondered what happened to the room you stole from. Now I know. Our master bedroom is seriously in need now! Our master bedroom tv is now on the floor (the table now serving as our coffee table used to hold our tv), we have no bedside lamps, and there all the accessories from our room are now in the living room! It's quite funny looking! We'll be clipping Hobby Lobby 50% off coupons this week to get some new lamps for the bedroom!

Thats awesome! I am in need of some serious help too! Our house has such great bones but it's so sparse! Doubling our size when we moved proved it hard to decorate!

Your house looks great!

I love it! It's very cozy and homey and welcoming. How fun to have that! (now you have an excuse to get new stuff for your master bedroom too!)

I love the difference! I agree with moving the green bench..i don't think I would have liked it sticking up above the couch either. What a difference it all made.
