Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!

Last weekend Cookie made a special trip to our house for a special surprise for Addie. Cookie (and Papa-who had to work) wanted to do something just for Addie to get her ready for kindergarten. Cookie planned a date for just the two of them.

they did some impromptu learning including a math lesson involving throwing pennies into a fountain



Addie picked McAlister's for their lunch. Cookie said she gave Addie lots of choices for lunch and Addie said, "Cookie, I know you like the tea at McAlister's and I like the food there too, so let's pick McAlister's!" What a sweet, considerate girl!

After their date, Cookie brought out a package of new school clothes and three new books. When Addie opened the box the clothes were on top and the books were just barely visible under the clothes. She immediately pulled the books out and read through each one before even glancing at the clothes. I'm so glad she loves books! Cookie read all three books to Addie: Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten, and Wimberly Worried. Addie loved each book and Cookie took the opportunity to talk about all sorts of things Addie would be doing at school, giving her situations and asking what Addie would do if that happened, etc.



There was also a fun, bright backpack and a lunchbox to open!



Cookie and Papa knew that Doak would love a little extra attention too, so they included him in a few surprises.



Cookie had a present for Doak with new jammies, a Toy Story lunch box, and a Toy Story car.



He also got to go on a short date with Cookie



He couldn't wait to ride in Cookie's car and was thrilled to go get a Sonic apple juice slush and run to the store all by himself with her.




It was such a special weekend, one that we will not forget. Addie is now so excited about kindergarten-she loves to read her new books and talk about what she will be doing next month!
