I love bedtime with our precious kids. Even after a long or stressful day, bedtime seems to be sweet. After baths all four of us gather on Addie's bed to read to stories-Addie picks one and Doak picks one. Doak's choice is usually I Love Trucks!
Addie likes a little more variety, but usually chooses a library book. (She picked this book about potty training, but I actually checked it out for Doak. They both loved it though!) After both stories are done the kids give each other kisses and kiss Daddy goodnight and I take Doak to his room.
We snuggle for a few minutes and I usually sing him a song. I have fond memories of my parents singing to me at bedtime....May the Lord Bless You as You Sleep was always my favorite. Doak's current favorite is Big Green Tractor. Not quite as sweet but he loves it!

After a song and a kiss I turn off Doak's light and go back to Addie's room. I give her a hug and sing with her. We usually sing together a song from one of her bedtime CDs. Sweet girl always wants our dog Kylie to sleep with her-they are such good buddies!

sweet stories! this is such a good idea--to record the routines that we keep now when our babies are young. one day we won't remember! this post is a good reminder to me, too...to savor the sweetness of bedtime rather than sprinting to get it done so my "me time" can start.
You have the sweetest family! You guys are just as close to perfect as any human family can come. Bedtime is one of my favorite times 'cause the cuddling, sweetness, & great memories are so special.
